Joe’s training is comprised of hundreds of training hours with John Friend, Sianna Sherman and other senior Anusara instructors. Anusara Yoga’s principles of alignment and therapeutic components match Joe’s keen awareness of body biomechanics and his long history as a devoted athlete. After years of avid whitewater kayaking, Joe’s quest to relieve his chronic back pain led him to his life’s passion, the study and teaching of yoga.

In 1999 his first teacher, Mary Kay West, launched him on his healing path through Ashtanga Vinyasa and therapeutic yoga, which ignited his passion for deeper knowledge and ultimately lead him to the world of Anusara Yoga. Joe passionately studies the teachings of Douglas Brooks, the founder of Rajanaka Tantra, which has shed light on a plethora of ideas, insights and deep wisdom to travel and explore.

In 2007 after six years of teaching yoga on a part-time basis, Joe departed from his career in the computer sector and plunged into teaching yoga full-time.  His mission is to impart how yoga deeply touches the mind, body and one’s perspective on life. Joe shares with his students a connection to their own innate beauty and their life’s potential, while encouraging them to embrace their bodies as a joyful playground. Joe’s teaches weekly classes for all levels, teacher training’s, Anusara immersions, workshops and offers private one-on-one instruction.  Joe promises transformational fun.

Joe currently lives in Asheville, North Carolina with his wife, Susanne, and their daughter, Taytum
